In this piece, I wanted to explore swiping my favourite colours to create an abstract landscape. The brushmarks and swiping are loose. The placement of colour begins in play and is then refined as the feeling of landscape comes through. In a series of studies, I wanted to see how far into abstract I wanted to go with landscapes.  The more abstract my paintings were, the more I felt something speaking from them. An unrefined freedom of mark making is probably the closest we get to expressing our selves. So the paintings move from what we are seeing to what we are feeling. Much more meaningful to me. 
 
About the Artist & Artwork
My paintings celebrate the emotional resonance of landscape, inspired by fleeting moments in nature—sunlight across fields, wildflowers, shifting grasses, and clouds. I work primarily in acrylic and oil on 30cm square canvases, building each piece through expressive, layered brushwork. My process is intuitive: I begin with loose swipes of color, gradually developing expansive landscapes with rich, warm hues and free strokes in the foreground. Color is deeply symbolic in my work—green represents grounding and awareness, pink embodies unconditional love and illumination, and red signifies passion and the journey from wounding to joy.

My style is shaped by the Impressionists’ devotion to atmosphere, Georgia O’Keeffe’s modernist boldness, and David Hockney’s vibrant palettes. I prioritize the energy of color and mark-making over strict realism, inviting viewers to experience landscape as a space of expanded consciousness and connection.
